Main Section

1.    Admission to Membership
The minimum age for admission to full membership is 18 years.  Applications for membership must be signed by two full Club members, willing to act as mentors, who accept responsibility for ensuring that the person being proposed is conversant with the rules of golf, the rules of etiquette and the dress codes which apply on the course and in the clubhouse.  However, newcomers to the area may provide a letter of introduction from a previous Club or if this is not practicable arrangements will be made to play with members to facilitate entry. Applicants will be called forward for interview, normally 2 to 3 weeks after receipt of their application.

2.    Categories of Members
There is only one category of Playing Member and that is full 7 Day (M1/L1). However, those  gentlemen with a playing handicap of 24 or greater (MR) and those ladies with a playing handicap of 36 or greater (LR) will be restricted as shown below: 

3.    Playing Times 
        a.     Weekdays and Bank Holidays
                Both categories - no restriction

        b.    Saturdays & Sundays 
               Category M1/L1  -  no restriction
               Category MR/LR -  Summer from 14.30 hrs.  Winter from 13.00 hrs. 

Gentlemen must return three competition cards per year to qualify for Cup competitions.         

Ladies' Section          

1.    Admission to Membership and Categories of membership are as the previous section. 

2.    Playing Times
As detailed in the previous section. In addition: 

a.    Tuesdays. 
The tees are reserved exclusively for ladies from 08.20-10.45 and 13.00-14.30. Time sheets are available in the ladies locker room 3 weeks in advance.           

b.    Thursday. 
On some Thursday evenings in the Summer informal friendly 8 hole competitions are held, followed by a basket meal. This is an ideal opportunity for new lady members to meet others in the section. Details are posted on the notice board in the locker room.          

3.    Competitions

a. Any member of the Ladies Section can become a Gloucestershire County Member and play in competitions relevant to their handicap.

b. There is an active Veterans Section both at local and county level           

c. The section is a member of the Cotswold & District Ladies Golf Alliances and two teams play in the Alliance Competitions.           

d. Popular mixed golf competitions are held on all Bank Holiday Mondays in season.  

Seniors' Section 

1.    Admission to Membership  
Membership of the Seniors is open to club members who are 55 years of age or older.  Joining information is on the Seniors notice board in the changing room. The annual fee is £2.

 2.    Inter Club Matches
There are 15 Inter Club fixtures during the season on a home and away basis. Home matches are normally played on a Thursday.  To be considered for selection, you must enter your name on a list provided by the Captain some 3 weeks before the match and the Captain will select the team and put the team sheet on the notice board.  If you are selected you are required to tick your name as being available to play.  If for any reason you cannot play, you must contact the next reserve listed to take your place and confirm it with the Captain. (Some Clubs’ age qualification is 60). 

 3.    Invitation Day
The Seniors also have an annual Invitation Day in June. The age limit for this event is 55.

 4.    Open Day
An annual Seniors Open Day is held at Lilley Brook in July.  The age limit for this event is 55.

 5.    Seniors Section Competitions  
Two additional friendly fixtures versus the Ladies ‘A’ side and the Lady Veterans, one Stableford and seven medals, together with the Dick Bramwell knockout and the Captain’s plate, another knockout competition.

 6.    Winter League
Details are posted on the Seniors Notice Board.

A Seniors Captain is elected annually and, together with arranging the smooth running of the  section, he organises an ‘away day’ and also a couple of evening dinners with members’ partners invited. 

The Seniors Section support the main Competitions and activities within the Club by carrying our numerous duties, such as starters, ball spotting and car parking, ensuring the efficient running of these events. 

Juniors' Section   

 1.    Commitment to Junior Golf.

a. Lilley Brook Golf Club is committed to the promotion of junior golf and the provision of facilities for junior golfers. 

b.This commitment includes the provision of coaching, competitions and league matches.

c.Membership vacancies will be made available for all members of the junior section when they reach the age of adult membership.

The junior member will commit to:

a. Adherence to Club rules both on and off the course. 

b. Observance of the code of golf etiquette

c. Behaviour appropriate to an adult members club.

 2.    Admission to Membership:

a. The minimum age for admission to Junior membership is 8 years.  The upper limit is 18 years. 

b. Applications for membership must be signed by two sponsors, who accept the responsibility for ensuring that the person being proposed is conversant with the standards of behaviour and dress code which apply both on the course and in the clubhouse. 

c. Applicants from the Junior Starter Centre (JSC) must have their application countersigned by the Club Professional or Assistant Professional. 

d. Except as in sub para 2c above, applicants without an official club handicap will be required to take 6 lessons from the professional within the first 3 months of membership. 

3.    Categories of Members: There are 4 categories of Junior Member:           

a. Category A - those with handicaps of scratch to 18. 

b. Category B - those with handicaps of 19 to 28.           

c. Category C - those with handicaps of  29 - 48. 

d. Category D - those with no handicap.

 3.    Handicaps

a. To obtain a handicap a junior must submit 3 cards each of which must be properly marked and submitted via the Junior Organiser.

b. Juniors must return two competition cards per year to retain their handicap.

c. Changes to handicaps are governed by the EGU guidelines, details of which are posted on the junior notice board.

 4.    Playing Times  

a. Category “A”. There are no restrictions on playing times other than those that apply to all members on competition, match or society days. 

b.Category “B, C and D”.

(i). There are no restrictions on juniors playing with a parent or other adult member other than those that apply to all members on competition,  match or society days.

(ii). Otherwise category “B and C” juniors may play after 1300 hrs. on weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays.

(iii). Category “D” juniors ( those with no handicap) may play at the above times but must be accompanied by a parent or other adult member.

 5.    Competitions 

a. All juniors members are encouraged to take part in the Club’s junior competitions. Category “C” juniors will normally compete in a different division of the competition to categories “A and B”.

b. Category “A” juniors may play in the Club’s adult competitions but there must be an adult in the playing group.

 6.    General Behaviour

a. Junior members under the age of 18 are not permitted to consume alcohol on the premises. Only food bought in the Club may be consumed in the Clubhouse. 

b. No Juniors are allowed to play on the gaming machine.

c. Juniors under 14 are to use the Tait room and not the main lounge unless accompanied by an adult member. 

d. Juniors are not allowed to drive golf buggies. 

e. Juniors are not permitted to smoke on the Club premises. 

f. Mobile phones are not to be used on the course or in the clubhouse except in an emergency.
